Health and Safety in the darkroom
Safety should be put first and be the main priority especially if you are working with others or there are people around you working. To help make the darkroom safer for you and others it is better to keep the work areas tidy to help prevent accidents, it also makes it easier to use. Here are some tips to help keeping the darkroom safe:
- Keep bags out of the darkroom to help from tripping.
- Limit the amount of people in the darkroom at each time.
- No food or drink in the room.
- Make sure to keep the wet and dry areas separate.
- The darkroom needs to be well ventilated due to all the chemicals being used.
- Use tongs or gloves to move the pictures through the chemicals
- Wash hands with soap and water after working with the chemicals
- Beware of any electrical items in the darkroom from overheating.
- Be aware of people and their work around you.
